BRIEF OUTLINE: The purpose of the game is the get students to practice "I like ~" with things that they like (Doraemon, Kyari Pamyu Pamyu, etc.). Students guess what their opponents like to get points.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  1. Review "Do You Like Apples" chant
  2. Review names of the pictures on the worksheet. After reviewing, have the students circle ONE picture that they like from each category (fruit, animal, character, and celebrity). Make sure they keep the answers they circled to themself.
  3. After they have filled out the worksheet, explain how to do the worksheet. The goal of this game is to guess what your opponent likes. When correct, they get either one point, or two points. They can only like the picture they circled on their worksheet.
  4. To start, have the student write down their opponents name on the 2nd page.
  5. After to determine who goes first, have them do “Rock, Scissors, Paper”. Winner asks, “Do you like ~?” using the chant. The loser answers with, “Yes, I do. I like ~” or “No, I don’t. I don’t like ~” depending on what they circled.
  6. If it’s a yes, they place a circle on the list next to their name; if no, they get 0 points (questions 1-3 are one point, question 4 is worth two points). After they do all four questions, have them switch.
  7. After they both ask questions, have them walk around to find another opponent. Repeat.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • Using the chants really help the students with the grammar.
  • For writing, I have them practice writing their classmates names down, in ENGLISH.
  • Always do a demonstration first with the HRT.
